Farmers In Uttarakhand
Life is difficult for the farmers in Uttarakhand. Haldivita Foundation is a small step to provide them with a better life. Agriculture is a significant contributor to Uttarakhand’s gross state domestic product. It is the chief source of livelihood for over 70% of its population.
The soil is depleted of its nutrients by overusing chemicals, and also unsuitable crops. The farmer seeks the less expensive versions of agrochemical substances, which are also of low quality. The issues are numerous. Farming in hilly areas is complex as the crop is always threatened by wild animals and ecological hazards.

Seeds
Distribution of the quality seeds is a major concern till today. Majority of the farmers, especially small and marginal farmers are don’t have accessto the quality seeds.
Manures, Fertilizers and Biocides
Manures and fertilizers are very important for the health and productivity of the soil. It is known that 70% growth in agricultural production can be achieved by increased fertilizer application. So, for increasing the consumption of fertilizers is the assurance of the agricultural prosperity.
Irrigation
On every alternate year, when rain cycle gets disturbed farmers gets helpless because of the lack of proper irrigation infrastructure
Lack of Mechanization
Even after implementation of large-scale mechanization, in the large part of the country farmers still do manual work which increases the total cost as well as the time consumption.
Agricultural Marketing
In the rural India farmers are still facing bad shape of agricultural marketing. In the absence of sound marketing infrastructure local traders and middle man take advantage of the poor peasants. Many a times these poor farmers are forced to do the distress sell under the socio-economic conditions. In small villages, the poor farmers sell their yield to the money lenders which puts them in further troubled situation.
